Promises much delivers little Review by Larry

Sharpens knives OK, however is still a sort of free hand tool as guide only supports knife so far. So if you work with caution and have a steady hand then it should do an adequate job. Definetly not foolproof, maybe I am a fool, but the hype makes it seem this is the end of sharpening woes, alas it is not, if you can sharpen well with this you can do the same with whetstones, as the required steadiness and hold is the same.

Build quality is very good, however overpriced and extra belts are price killers!

Quality of belts is very poor, however most top notch abrasive companies will make you belts with supplied dimensions, and minimum order of 12 per grit size is ordered. Grit adhesiveness not good at all, rather buy top quality belts and they will last much longer.

Work Sharp Response: Our belts are top-quality Norton belts, the same belts Ken Onion and other professional knife makers use on full-size sharpening systems. Same abrasive, adhesive, and backing - just cut smaller. If you can find a better belt, we'd like to know about it. If you need assistance achieving the results others have attained, please call our customer service toll-free - we really want you to get the most value from your sharpener and we are here to help. Great Sharpener Review by Floyd

This is my first Work Sharp. I've had it for a 4 days. I have sharpened a few knifes. It fairly easy to use. I'm use to lansky and KME knife sharpeners.
It does a great job. But I still have to use a leather strop to get it scary sharp edge. The 6000 grit belt works okay but doesn't give it the final edge I'm looking for. I'me sure its me. I'm still not really comfortable with it.
The only negative I can say about it is if you make one slip up you will scratch your knife up. But thats not the sharpeners fault. keep it clean or the guides can scratch your knife blade up.
I'm really happy with it. Its especially nice for large hunting knifes (much quicker) than stones. And I do like the fact of not having to use oil or water. It does seem to get the knifes really sharp they will shave hair ...I still strop (after i strop) I think they are sharper than the other 2 systems I mentioned above. Some of my knifes were easier to sharpen than other due to their profile (they fit well in the guide) thin narrow blades (like filet knifes) were harder for me. I would like to see a leather strop belt offered. But its not a deal breaker.
I think it will really shine when I'm butchering game for quick touch ups that are just not reasonable to do with conventional knife sharpeners. (I suck at using steels) so those are no use to me.
I wished it would have come with a carrying bag . or plastic storage case. From a hunter stand point this thing works great. For a collector maybe not. But as I get better with it who knows.
I didn't think the replacement belts are to bad a price considering they last a while I bought some extras 75.00 dollars worth so I should be good for a while.
I may try making my own leather strop belt. shouldn't be to hard. I don't think I will ever have any use for the tool grinding attachment I'll continue to use my grinder for my lawn mower blades. and axes. I may be interested in the knife blade grinding attachment thought but not sure.
Over all great sharpener I think it will last me a life time. I hope :-)

I've always struggled with the angle at which to hold the knife. I've had a set of Trident knives totaling $2500.00 and a professional knife sharpening service wanted $13-$16 each for 18 professional grade knives. Well-I paid the $270.00 to get them razor sharp. Oh, there was a $27.00 shipping charge plus $35.00 insurance. Wow, now we're at $332.00! I bought the Ken Onion Edition on Amazon for $135.00-free shipping as Prime (Well-not free!) Member. After I used the Ken Onion Sharpener the knives have the pro edge and your friends will bring anything thing dull to be sharpened! I am now the "KING" of sharp knives in my neighborhood. I don't charge my friend's and neighbors but do charge $10 bucks for 2-4 knives-or a six-pack! This will be the BEST purchase you will make if you use knives! Who doesn't !?!?!?! The replacement belt's (6) are $12-$15 bucks too. Buy this and you will not be disappointed. I promise! Knife Crazy! Doug (Posted on 10/6/14)
