I purchased one at the Long Beach Sports Show on March 5, 2014 after Doug Holser's demonstration. I am a fisherman and need to skin and clean rockfish, so sharp knives are very important form me. Since I got it, I have sharpened about a dozen knives to razor sharpness with just a few minutes of work with each one. I really like the selection of belts and grit sizes and how easy it is to change belts. Its a clever and effective device and the price is very fair for this kind of quality. (Posted on 3/12/14)

I just purchased my Work Sharp Sharpener (KO edition) and spent the last hour or so learning how to use it. I use an Edge Pro Apex usually, but heard good things about this unit so I thought I'd try it. First of all, it is extremely easy to put belts on and off. It does take a bit of getting used to when sharpening an outdoor blade (pocket knife) without the guide rest. Feels a bit freehand, but puts an awesome edge on the blade. No mess to clean up and the unit is small (and quiet enough) to use in the living room. The unit feels solid and extremely well built (not heavy though). Over all, great feel.

Adjusting the angle is easy and predictable. I was able to quickly put a sharp edge on two knives I have. Kershaw Blur (S30V) and Cold Steel Hold Out III (Aus8A). Without going to the 6000 grit, I was able to get a good edge on both. cut paper, hair, etc. I then used the 6000 (purple) belt and it became scary bleeding sharp ;-). I can do this with the Apex, it just takes longer since it can get wet (water stones, etc).

Overall a worthy contender wrt sharp. It's just quicker.

Edge and belt stay cool (low speed), and feels good in your hand. (Posted on 3/8/14)
Excellent quality sharpener, belts harder to find... Review by Mark

The WSKTS-KO is one "get-r-done" little piece of sharpening genius!! The motor is plenty strong enough for those who don't want to burn the temper out of an expensive knife, but get really aggrivated at "grinding away" w/ stones/ceramic and even diamond sharpening solutions for hours on end. Those still tools have their place in 99.9% of my work, but the WSKTS-KO kills all the "grunt work" beforehand.

The adjustable speeds feature is a Godsend. I can use the slowest SPM and finest grit belt, and pretty much WATCH the honing magic transpire, one or two passes at a time, check, and try again---something I wouldn't feel comfortable doing on an industrial grade machine. I have CP, so big buffing wheels and grinders make me a bit skiddish. The X4 ceramic belt puts that blinding "samuari flash" polish on my knives, and I don't have to whip out the strops and compounds, unless I want to do so. Ive been sharpening knives 35 yrs. now, I wish the WSKTS-KO had come along years ago. The WSKTS-KO is light enough to transport and move around easily. Belt changeups are a snap, and belts can be cleaned w/ normal abrasive belt cleaning "sticks", available almost anywhere. This is a great tool for veteran sharpeners, and for beginners who will pay heed to the instruction manual, and do some online research and practice. (Posted on 3/7/14)
