Tool Sharpener Guide

Which tool sharpener should I buy?

Works Sharp offers several tool sharpening solutions. This page is to help you figure out which powered sharpener is best for you, based on the tools you want to sharpen and how much sharpeneing you intend to do.

Original Knife & Tool Sharpener (WSKTS)

The Original Knife & Tool Sharpener will sharpen most yard, garden, ranch and field tools quickly and easily. If you can get to the cutting edge of your tool, you can probably sharpen it with this sharpener.

By removing the knife sharpening angle guides (no tools required), the abrasive belt system rotates into position for free-hand sharpening and grinding.

The sharpener comes with 6 abrasives belts - 2 coarse, 2 medium and 2 fine. The coarse belts are typically used for your bigger tools, like axes, shovels, and lawn mower blades. The medium belt is ideal for garden shears, shop scissors, and other tools with a fine cutting edge. A built-in scissor guide creates the proper edge every time.

This sharpener will also sharpen every knife you own - curved, straight and serrated. It sharpens hunting knives, pocket knives, kitchen knives, fishing knives - it'll turn a butter knife into a steak knife. Flexible belts create a strong beveled edge that stays sharp longer. And angle guides create a consistent edge along the length of the blade. Your knives will cut like new, or better.

Ken Onion Edition Knife & Tool Sharpener (WSKTS-KO)

The Ken Onion Edition Knife & Tool Sharpener is a step up from the Original Knife & Tool Sharpener. It has the same tool sharpening flexibility as the Original Knife & Tool Sharpener, but a heavy duty motor lets you tackle bigger projects. Wider belts provide 50% more surface area for quicker grinding and sharpening. Plus, an optional Tool Grinding Attachment is available, designed specifically to handle the rigors of bigger jobs, and uses a larger drive pulley to achieve the optimal belt speed (4500 SFM) for most grinding tasks. A variable speed trigger also makes it a great handheld belt-sander/power-file for a wide range of projects in metal, wood and plastic.

The Ken Onion will also sharpen every knife you own. An adjustable knife sharpening angle guide puts the correct edge on standard and specialty blades, from 15° to 30° angles in 1° increments. An optional Blade Grinding Attachment is available for custom blade grinding.

The Ken Onion Edition was designed with knife enthusiasts in mind. But with the addition of the optional Tool Grinding Attachment and Blade Gridning Attachment, it's capabilities have expanded without comprimising it's purpose-built advantages - making it the top contender for knife and tool sharpening tasks.
