I bought the deluxe model 7 or 8 yrs ago when san francisco still allowed gun shows at the cow palace.
I had seen the man selling them at a few other shows, what I noticed where the people buying parts or sanding belts, and they swore by the Ken Onion….I’ve tried all the stones and every other gizmo, but the sales guy gave me a great deal the sharpener the grinder…..all the attachments and belts plus a bag, for $150, best purchase ever. After years of weekly use the cassette stripped a couple of teeth and I’m back to dull kind of sharp knives….so here I am and happy to be here..thanks for a great product

I have been using my Ken Onion sharpener for years now and I can sharpen knives very quickly using fewer passes and progressively finer grits for ridiculously sharp edges and especially for polishing blade surfaces (7500 grit). I am able to reshape blades that the tips have been bent or broken are now good as new. The Ken Onion keeps the surface of new knives from being scratched or nicked from other sharpening devices, it will also remove minor scratches and polishes older knife surfaces. I made a base that fits the sharpener which I clamp to a bench so I can use two hands to guide the knives through the guides and efficiently. I have been making scales for knives (from kits for gifts) mostly damascus steel for sometime now. I have purchased other knife making equipment for reshaping new knives and restoring old knives. I am embarking on making knives from blanks. The Ken Onion sharper is inexpensive when you consider the adage “a sharp knife is a safe knife”. Old favorites that are unused and have seen there better days are now back in service as good or better than they were new.

    Two years of weekly use.

I sharpen my kitchen knives weekly because they are used to cut on ceramic plates which dull inexpensive steel very quickly. In less than ten minutes the jobs are complete. The Ken Onion Edition and its components are still working as new. I have tried many other systems but no other is as quick and fool proof.
