The Blade Grinding Attachment is designed for knife shaping, sharpening and honing tasks.

The Work Sharp Blade Grinding Attachment is constructed using cast metal components and engineered polymers built to endure the rigors of heavy shaping and sharpening tasks. The unit quickly connects to the Ken Onion Edition Knife & Tool Sharpener without tools, and belts are easily changed by hand.

The blade grinder uses 1”x18” engineered abrasive belts in a wide range of grits, and a 4 pulley system that is fully adjustable from 10° to 35° in 1° increments. Belt speed is adjustable from 1200-2800 SFM (square feet per minute) to accommodate a wide range of sharpening and honing tasks. The center position of the top two pulleys is adjustable to set your preferred belt deflection – a full convex or a near flat convex – allowing you to customize your cutting edge to best meet your needs and preferences.

The Work Sharp Blade Grinding Attachment is similar in design to the systems professional blade makers use, providing knife enthusiasts with a high-quality, precise machine to shape, sharpen and hone your blades without the cost of full scale blade maker’s equipment.

    Works great!

I have been using the blade grinding attachment on my Ken Onion Edition Sharpener for several years now. I prefer it over the standard attachment that came on the sharpener. The standard one could damage/scratch the side of your knife when drawing it through. When you pay hundreds of dollars for knives you don't want to damage them. A couple years ago I also bought a "Bess" tester. It takes the subjectivity out of whether a knife is sharp or not. Just measure sharpness before sharpening and after to see actual results. See pics

So easy to use. Really cleaned up my blades and made them better than factory sharp! Love it.

Received it today and couldn't wait to use it. I followed the instructions for installing and setting up the attachment. I'm very pleased with it and wish I had gotten it sooner. I do strongly suggest starting with cheap knives as there is a learning curve. I am very happy with my purchase.

Honestly the blade grinding attachment is so awesome, it's the only tool you need. I received, as a gift, the Ken Onion sharpener and the blade grinding attachment. While the sharpener is great, it has a few cons such as being more difficult to use on certain shape knives, thumb studs, handle styles, etc. It can also scratch the sides of your knives when pulling them along the angle guide...Especially with kitchen knives. The abrasive dust collects on the angle guide and scratches the side of the blade. The blade grinder in my opinion is by far the better option for getting your knives extremely sharp! Yes there is a learning curve, but I feel it is even easier than the regular sharpener to master. If you are proficient in using bench stones, then you will REALLY LOVE the blade grinder attachment. This is by far the best tool for sharpening I've ever purchased! It cuts so much time off traditional bench stones and I feel the short pulley setting is close enough for those that want a flatter grind similar to using a bench stone. Now that I'm perfecting my techniques I can sharpen 6 knives to razor sharp edges in the time it took me to do one knife on my high end bench stones. This tool is fantastic once you learn the tricks. The only improvement I would suggest is greatly expanding the instruction manual specifically for the blade grinding attachment. I suggest including more detailed instructions for machetes, hatchets, axes, etc. With regards to belt selection and angles. I…

The only thing I have issues with is it doesn't lock into the base unit and hangs free when installed. Unlike the Ken Onion sharpening cassette. I guess its ok, but seems odd it isn't more secure.
