The Blade Grinding Attachment is designed for knife shaping, sharpening and honing tasks.
The Work Sharp Blade Grinding Attachment is constructed using cast metal components and engineered polymers built to endure the rigors of heavy shaping and sharpening tasks. The unit quickly connects to the Ken Onion Edition Knife & Tool Sharpener without tools, and belts are easily changed by hand.
The blade grinder uses 1”x18” engineered abrasive belts in a wide range of grits, and a 4 pulley system that is fully adjustable from 10° to 35° in 1° increments. Belt speed is adjustable from 1200-2800 SFM (square feet per minute) to accommodate a wide range of sharpening and honing tasks. The center position of the top two pulleys is adjustable to set your preferred belt deflection – a full convex or a near flat convex – allowing you to customize your cutting edge to best meet your needs and preferences.
The Work Sharp Blade Grinding Attachment is similar in design to the systems professional blade makers use, providing knife enthusiasts with a high-quality, precise machine to shape, sharpen and hone your blades without the cost of full scale blade maker’s equipment.

Phenominal attachment
Ive been using Ken Onion sharpener for about 5 years now. Ive always had sharp knives but this blade grinding attachment puts sharpeness to a whole new level. As long as you have a steady hand and can keep blades flat you will be impressed with how sharp blades will get. It takes a little longer but surgical scapel will be in comparison of a cheap knife using this attachment.

Outstanding Machine…after a bit of practice
This device takes all the guess work out of sharpening. You may remember “that guy” who always seemed to perform magic on a blade when sharpening, and nobody else could ever get a knife quite as sharp as he? Well, the blade grinding attachment with the Ken Onion Edition of Work Sharp’s tool will turn you into that Mr. Magic knife sharpener. You can choose your bevel angle for any knife profile you need, choose the grind from convex to almost flat ground, choose the grinding speed from 1200 fpm to almost 3000 fpm, and choose belt grits from an extra coarse P120 to a super ultra fine of P12000 for an edge that is scary sharp, depending on the knife steel in your blade.
This tool takes a little practice, but an hour or so of practice will make you sharpen like a pro. What you always thought to be magic and art, is now understood to be science and skill. The key lies in the control of the grind angle. If your sharpening does not produce a sharp edge, if your previous attempts seemed to round over the cutting edge, leaving your blade only semi-sharp, this tool will let you hold that precise angle through the whole process. What you end up with is a sharpness and keenness that will amaze you and anyone else nearby. One word of warning though, you may just find yourself inundated with requests from acquaintances and friends who want you to make their blades as sharp as yours.
